Chairperson of Parliamentary Committee of RPP, Pashupati Shamsher JBR served as a chairperson at RPP, before the merger of RPP and Janashakti. Internal commitment has been made for his appointment as a chairperson after Surya Bahadur Thapa’s tenure, during merger time. Plunged into politics in 1973, he is still holding the position of influential leader of Nepalese political arena. A member of High level Central Performance Committee of RPP, Rana became a member at 1973’s National Assembly and served the cabinet for the first time in 1976. He was Minister of State for Education (1977-78) with the addition of Transport and Tourism (1978-79), Minister for Water Resources (1983-84) with Communications (1984-86), Minister for Panchayat and Local Development (1986 - 88). After the end of the Panchayat, he served as Minister for Foreign Affairs, for Finance, Water Resources and Communications (1990-1994) and Minister for Water Resources (1995-97 and 1997-98).
